Eoin Brislane has stepped down as Monaleen senior hurling manager

EOIN BRISLANE has confirmed to Leader Sport this afternoon that he is stepping down as Monaleen senior hurling manager. Brislane was in charge of the Monaleen senior hurling team for the past four seasons.
Brislane was on the line last Tuesday evening when he took charge of the Monaleen U20 Hurling team who were defeated by Mungret St Paul's in county semi-final.

After suffering relegation from the senior ranks in 2021, the Tipperary native took charge of the Castletroy club in 2022 where he guided them to a Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship and Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship. Monaleen went on to defeat on Tooreen and win the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship.
In 2023, the city club returned to the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship. Last year, Monaleen were defeated by Patrickswell in the Limerick SHC quarter-final and this year they just came up short against Kilmallock in the SHC quarter-final after extra time. This year, Monaleen won all five of their group games in group two of the SHC and sealed their promotion into group one for the 2026 season.
Monaleen will face Na Piarsaigh, Doon, Kilmallock, Ahane and Ballybrown in group one next year. The 2025 group two winners have been on a club on the rise in recent seasons winning the Premier Minor, Premier U20 and Junior A Hurling titles last year.
Monaleen will now begin the search for a new senior hurling manager ahead of next season, and it will be intriguing to see who steps in to replace Brislane. The 2025 Limerick SHC quarter-finalists have plenty of quality in their squad which includes Limerick hurlers Darragh Langan, Donnacha Ó Dálaigh, ex inter-county hurlers Lorcan Lyons and Andrew La Touche Cosgrave as well as promising young talents Matthew Fitzgerald and Dara Ferland.
