Limerick hurlers impress in Dublin Club Hurling Championship finals

THREE Limerick men featured in the Dublin club hurling championship finals last weekend.

Former Limerick senior hurler Brian Ryan was awarded man of the match in Na Fianna's 1-20 to 0-22 victory over Lucan Sarsfields in the Dublin senior hurling championship. Ryan landed 0-5 from play in Na Fianna's narrow one point victory over Lucan Sarsfields. Adare's Charlie McCarthy also featured off the bench for Na Fianna last weekend. 

The North Dublin club have now completed a historic three in-a-row after winning the last three Dublin county titles. Last year, proved a succesful year for Na Fianna where they won the Dublin, Leinster and All-Ireland title and Brian Ryan was also named on the AIB club hurling team of the year last year.

Former Limerick underage star Eoghan McNamara proved to be the hero for Faugh's in the Dublin 2 Senior Hurling final after he saved four penalties in the penalty shootout. McNamara also went on to score a penalty during the penalty shootout as Faugh's defeated Ballyboden St Enda's 2-1 on peanlties. 

The sides were level 1-17 apiece after extra time and Faughs eventually went on to defeat their opponents on penalties. This result will now them play senior hurling in 2026. 

McNamara was part of the Dublin senior hurling squad during the Allianz league earlier this year. Meanwhile, the Doon clubmnan lined out for his club in  2018 and 2020 in the Limerick senior club hurling finals where they were defeated by Na Piarsaigh.

In 2023, McNamara transferred from Doon to south Dublin club Faughs. Eoghan McNamara played minor and u21 hurling for Limerick. In 2017, McNamara was part of the Limerick team that won a Munster and All-Ireland U21 championship. 

Brian Ryan transfered from Limerick club South Liberties to Dublin club Na Fianna in 2023.  Ryan was previously part of the Limerick senior hurling panel where he received gametime during the National League campaigns in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, Ryan was part of the extended Limerick senior hurling panel that went onto to win the All-Ireland title.
