EFFIN and Croagh-Kilfinny will open the 2025 Lyons of Limerick county premier intermediate hurling championship on Thursday evening in Mick Neville Park at 7pm.
County semi-finalists Effin fell short at last year's premier intermediate semi-final against Newcastle West. Croagh-Kilfinny make the jump up to premier intermediate after winning the intermediate hurling championship in 2024.
Effin's Tommy Quaid said it has been good to get their county representatives back among the group. Limerick goalkeeper Nickie Quaid, Fergal O'Connor and Patrick O'Donovan have all returned back to their club in Effin.
“It's always nice to have them back, we didn't expect them back as soon as we did that's unfortunate maybe a bit of a silver lining as well.
“It's good to get them back in among the group as well to bring them back down to earth a small bit aswelll from the Limerick point of view and get them back motoring with hurling and stuff like that,” said Tommy Quaid.
Croagh Kilfinny's Denis Lenihan feels it's important for the west Limerick outfit to make a good start to the championship.
“I suppose, like all the other seven teams we will be trying to win it and take it game by game. Hopefully we can try and get a good start," added Denis Lenihan.
Verdict: Effin
