Limerick referee to take charge of big All-Ireland hurling semi-final clash

LIMERICK man Johnny Murphy is set to referee the first of the All-Ireland senior hurling semi-finals next weekend.

2024 All-Ireland final referee Murphy will take charge of Cork's meeting with Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday next, July 5 at 5pm. The game will be live on RTE2 TV.

Murphy is a member of the Ballylanders club and has also refereed the All-Ireland Minor Final in 2018, U20 All-Ireland Final in 2021, Leinster Hurling Final in 2021, and the All-Ireland Senior Club Final in 2023.

He was the man in the middle for Clare's dramatic All-Ireland final victory over Cork at Croke Park last July. Murphy took charge of his first Liam MacCarthy game in 2018.

Meanwhile, James Owens, of Wexford, will referee the second All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final between Tipperary and Kilkenny at Croke Park on Sunday, July 6, 4pm.
