JOHN Kiely has added another coach-selector to his Limerick senior hurling management for 2025.
At the October County Board meeting, Kiely was ratified for an ninth season at the helm of the inter-county side.
Paul Kinnerk continues as head coach with Alan Cunningham, John Flavin and newcomer Liam Cronin as coach-selectors.
Kilmallock’s Adrian O’Brien was also confirmed as the team’s new S&C coach.
Now former Limerick minor hurling coach Ger Barry is also to join the backroom team.
The Killeedy man is a post-primary school teacher and has undertaken a Professional Doctorate in Elite Performance in DCU.
Barry was involved with the county minor hurlers in 2020 and 2021 - winning the Munster Championship in 2020.
The west Limerick man will provide a vital link with many of the new faces on the 46-man preseason squad announced last month. Vince Harrington, Ethan Hurley, Ronan Lyons, Cian Scully, Patrick O’Donovan, William Dore, Con Hayes as well as Adam English and Shane O’Brien were all members of the minor squads, which had Barry as coach.
In Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League, Limerick have a bye in the opening weekend of league fixtures at the end of January as the group contains seven counties.
Limerick will begin their campaign when travelling to Leeside to face All-Ireland finalists Cork in their opening fixture at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, February 1, 7.30pm.
Eight days later, on Sunday, February 9, Limerick host Tipperary at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, 3.45pm throw-in time.
Two weeks later, on Sunday, February 23, John Kiely will bring his Limerick charges to UPMC Nowlan Park to face Kilkenny, 1.45pm throw-in.
On Sunday, March 2, Limerick host great rivals Clare in a round 5 clash at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, 3.45pm throw-in.
Limerick then host Galway at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday, March 8, 7.30pm.
On Saturday, March 22, Limerick entertain Wexford at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, 7.30pm throw-in.
