FOUR Limerick players have been selected on the 2024 PwC GAA All-Star hurling team

Goalkeeper Nickie Quaid has won his third hurling All-Star this year and his first since 2022.

Outside Quaid in the full-back line, Ahane clubman Dan Morrissey was winning his fourth All-Star award.

Limerick also were represented in the half-back line in the PwC GAA All-Star hurling team as Kyle Hayes was honoured for the fifth successive year.

In the forwards, Gearoid Hegarty, of Limerick, won his fourth All-Star accolade.

A total of nine Limerick players were nominated for 2024 PwC GAA All-Star awards. The other five players short-listed were defender Barry Nash, midfielder Cathal O'Neill and forwards Tom Morrissey, Aaron Gillane and David Reidy.

Limerick became the first side ever to complete a six-in-a-row of Munster senior hurling titles when overcoming Clare at FBD Semple Stadium in June.

The Shannonsiders' dream of completing an unprecedented five-in-a-row of All-Ireland final wins came unstuck with a narrow All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Cork at Croke Park.

While provincial champions Limerick scooped a quartet of awards, All-Ireland champions Clare led the way with six awards, while All-Ireland finalists Cork won five.

No player from a Leinster county was included in the team.

Exciting Limerick player Cathal O'Neill was our of luck in the PwC GAA/GPA Young Hurler of the Year category. The award went to Clare defender Adam Hogan. The third player nominated for the accolade was Eoin Downey, of Cork.

All-Star Kyle Hayes missed out on the PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Year accolade as Clare forward Shane O'Donnell won the award. The third player nominated was Darragh Fitzgibbon, of Cork.
