LIMERICK hurling fans are set for a bonanza Halloween Bank Holiday weekend with five county finals down for decision.
Limerick GAA officials have confirmed that the county senior, premier intermediate, intermediate, premier junior A and junior A finals for Saturday and Sunday, October 26-27.
Doon and Na Piarsaigh will battle it out in this year's Bon Secours Limerick Senior Hurling Championship Final on Sunday, October 27 at the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 4.15.
The curtain-raiser will be the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Final. In this decider Garryspillane will face Newcastle West at the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 2pm.
There are three finals down for decision on Saturday, October 26.
Bruree will take on Croagh-Kilfinny in this year's Nick Grene Sportsground Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship Final on Saturday, October 26 in Mick Neville Park at 5pm.
In the Woodlands House Hotel Limerick Premier Junior A Hurling Championship Final, Feenagh-Kilmeedy play St Patricks on Saturday, October 26 in Ratheale GAA's Sean Finn Park at 3pm.
In the Woodlands House Hotel Limerick Junior A Hurling Championship Final, Rathkeale and Monaleen will meet in Bruff on Saturday, October 26 at 1pm.
Doon and Na Piarsaigh will battle it out in this year's senior honours.
Doon had too much for Patrickswell in the first of the semi-finals when they won out 2-24 to 2-12 on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Maher impressed - scoring 2-2 for the east Limerick side.
Former Waterford senior hurling manager Derek McGrath will be hoping to guide Doon to their first ever county title.
In the second semi-final, Na Piarsaigh edged past Kilmallock by the minimum. Will Henn scored the match-winning point to keep the Caherdavin side's hopes of winning three county titles in-a-row alive.
Na Piarsaigh's David Dempsey missed the clash through injury and Shane O'Neill will hope to have Dempsey back on the pitch for the county final.
Kilmallock threw everything at the reigning county champions. Peter Queally's side had a free at the end to send the game to extra time but the free went wide.
Meanwhile, Garryspillane will face Newcastle West in a battle to secure promotion to the senior ranks in the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Final.
It will be Newcastle West's first time in the final, while Garryspillane will be looking to win the title in order to secure an immediate return back up to senior ranks.
Limerick U20 star Ethan Hurley made his return from a hamstring injury to line out for Newcastle West on Saturday. Eoin Hurley, Brian Hurley and Bryan Nix scored 2-10 out of 3-13 as Newcastle West narrowly defeated Effin in the premier intermediate semi-final.
Garryspillane got over the line against Bruff in the second semi-final. Hugh Flanagan nailed 1-3 in the Knocklong side's victory.
Limerick star Sean Finn missed the clash for Bruff through a hamstring injury.
Elsewhere, Bruree will take on Croagh-Kilfinny in this year's intermediate final.
In the semi-finals Croagh-Kilfinny, reached their fourth intermediate final in-a-row when defeating Feohanagh 3-14 to 0-15 and Bruree got the better of Murroe-Boher 1-20 to 1-17.
Limerick star Gearoid Hegarty's St Patrick's side has reached this year's premier junior final. St Patrick's will meet Feenagh-Kilmeedy with the winner promoted to intermediate hurling in 2025.
In the fifth tier, Rathkeale take on Monaleen in the Junior A Hurling Final. Rathkeale defeated Castletown-Ballyagran in a penalty shootout in their junior semi-final last weekend. Monaleen, who just came up short up last year's Junior A decider, defeated Patrickswell in last weekend's semi-final. The winner will be promoted to the premier junior grade.
