KILDIMO-PALLASKENRY are back in the winner’s circle in Group 2 of the Bon Secours Limerick senior hurling championship after a 0-20 to 1-14 Round 3 victory over Dromin-Athlacca in Newcastle West on Friday evening.

The results means Kildimo-Pallaskeny join their opponents Dromin-Athlacca on two wins from three fixtures in Group 2.

The opening score of the game came via a point for the winners from Rob O’Farrell.

Dromin-Athlacca then responded with a pair of pointed frees from their talismanic inter-county star  David Reidy.

The see-saw nature of the scoring continued when Conor Staff and Shaun Barry put Kildimo-Pallaskenry back in front after 11 minutes.

Reidy and Daniel Scully then combined to send Dromin-Athlacca into the lead again after 20 minutes.

Points from placed balls from Liam Griffin and Barry was the defiant response from Kildimo-Pallaskenry, however.

A deft touch from Reidy created an opening for yet another point, before Cian Scully ventured up from centre back to hit an impressive score on the run to put his side 0-10 to 0-8 in front at the end of the opening half.

Daniel Scully split the posts with Dromin Athlacca’s first attack of the second period, but crucially his side would not threaten to raise a white flag for another 10 minutes there after.

In the meantime, Kildimo-Pallaskenry were busy whittling down the lead and early second half points from McMahon, Fitzgerald and Griffin had them back level after 35 minutes.

Some notable efforts from Rob O’Farrell and Limerick senior star Kyle Hayes stretched out the lead before Dromin-Athlacca finally hit the target again through a David Reidy free.

A hat-trick of quickfire points from influential substitute Seanie Hartigan gave Kildimo-Pallaskenry what seemed like a comfortable six-point lead heading down the stretch.

However, Reidy then netted from a 20-metre free in the dying seconds, but it only turned out to be a consolation score for his side.

Kildimo-Pallaskenry, who play South Liberties in Round 4, had done enough to secure a precious victory.

SCORERS: Kildimo-Pallaskenry: Shaun Barry 0-5 (0-5 frees) Liam Griffin 0-4 (0-3 frees, 0-1 65’) Rob O’Farrell, Seanie Hartigan 0-3 each, Kyle Hayes 0-2, Conor Staff, Ciaran McMahon, Davy Fitzgerald 0-1 each. Dromin-Athlacca: David Reidy 1-10 ( 1-7 frees), Daniel Scully 0-2, Cian Scully, Peter McMahon 0-1 each.
