LIMERICK senior hurling manager John Kiely has not yet met with Limerick County GAA Board officials to discuss his future, the Limerick Leader understands.
As a result, no decision has been made on whether Kiely will remain as Limerick senior hurling manager for the 2025 season.
The Limerick senior hurling manager is expected to meet with the county board over the next few weeks.
After Kiely guided the Treaty County to an All-Ireland title in 2023, the Galbally man was reappointed for a one-year term.
That term ended with Limerick's narrow All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Cork at Croke Park in July.
John Kiely has taken a career break this year from his teaching duties at the Abbey School in Tipperary Town where he has served as deputy principal. It is understood that he has taken up a role working with JP McManus ahead of the staging of the 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare.
Kiely has brought a huge amount of success to this Limerick team where he has won six Munster titles in-a-row between 2019 and 2024, five All-Ireland titles in six years and three National League titles.
The Shannonsiders were hoping to create history this year by becoming the first hurling team to win five All-Ireland SHC titles in a row, but that dream came to an end when Cork defeated Limerick in the All-Ireland semi-final.
Limerick can still look back on 2024 with a sense of achievement by becoming the first team to win six Munster Championships in-a-row.
John Kiely has attended a number of club hurling championship fixtures in the county in recent weeks and he is expected to agree to extend his time in charge of the county's senior hurlers.
Supporters in the county will be hoping that Limerick's most successful manager will remain at the helm for the 2025 season.
The next monthly Limerick GAA County Board meeting is set to take place on September 10.
