LIMERICK senior hurling club Doon have confirmed that Clare's Fergie O'Loughlin has agreed to become their manager for the remainder of the 2023 season.

O'Loughlin comes into the fold following the recent departure of previous manager Tadhg Hayes and trainer Jimmy Quilty. O'Loughlin will be joined by coach James Hickey and former Doon and Limerick hurlers Denis Maloney. O'Loughlin coached Ballybrown in last year's championship.

There had been rumours earlier this week that current Waterford senior manager Davy Fitzgerald was in line to have some involvement with the new set up but that speculation has now been put to bed.

Doon have reached the Limerick SHC final twice in recent years, losing to Na Piarsaigh on both occasions. They lost to Kilmallock in the 2022 semi-final.
