THERE were a number of local successes on the final day of the four-day Mr Binman Limerick Christmas Racing Festival on Sunday, December 29.

Ballingarry trainer Charles Byrnes continued his excellent meeting when saddling the well-supported Whateys Quest to win the Limerick Racecourse Novice Handicap Chase at odds of 11/4 favourite.

Whateys Quest was ridden to a three length success by Byrnes' son Philip. Winning trainer Charles Byrnes had also won the concluding bumper on Saturday's card at Limerick with I Started A Joke.

There was another Limerick success in the Cuchulainn Maiden Hurdle when Way Down South landed the spoils for Ballingarry trainer, Gillian Scott.

The 12/1 shot jumped the last flight well to get away from his rivals, before scoring by six and a half lengths under jockey Daniel King.

The feature race on the final day of the National Hunt racing bonanza, the Listed QuinnBet Handicap Hurdle, was won by 13/8 favourite Balko D'ange.

The winner, ridden by Niall Moore, proved a length and a half too good for runner-up Bright Legend.
