THE JIGSAW Limerick Youth Advisory Panel (YAP), a team of young volunteers passionate about making a difference to young people's mental health, recently celebrated its first full year in operation.

The group celebrated its anniversary with a YAP Recognition Night at Shannon Rowing Club, designed to celebrate the many creative initiatives and projects the YAP developed over the last year.

Some of these projects included Shine A Light on the river project as part of Limerick Mental Health week last October.

“Being involved in the YAP makes me feel part of my community and know that I'm making a difference to the mental health of both young people and the wider community,” said one YAP member.

“I'm glad I've taken the opportunity to support a very worthwhile cause. It's contributed to my personal development.”

According to Jigsaw, the YAP has also helped to create and adapt the Jigsaw Limerick service and hub into a warm and welcoming service for young people to attend. The group is also proactive in its promotion of positive mental health as “essential for the whole community to thrive.”

If you are aged between 16 and 25 and would like to join the Jigsaw YAP, please email gerard.linnane@jigsaw.ie or call 061 974 510.
