Limerick gardai investigate hit and run involving scrambler bike and SUV

Gardai at Roxboro Road are investigating the incident

GARDAI at Roxboro Road are investigating a hit and run incident on the southside of the city.

Details of the incidents have been confirmed after a number of residents in the Rathbane area of the city contacted the Limerick Leader to complain about young people riding scrambler bikes in the area.

“These guys are on the bikes day and night travelling at high speeds, it is only a matter of time before a child is killed,” said one man who asked not to be named.

A garda spokesperson confirmed an investigation has been launched following a “road traffic collision between a 4X4 and a motorbike” at the weekend.

The incident happened at Rathbane Road, Rathbane shortly before 2pm last Saturday – March 23.

“The motorcyclist failed to remain at the scene. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made,” said the garda spokesperson.

Anyone with information is asked contact Roxboro Road garda station at (061) 214340.
