WATCH: Woman arrested and charged after patrol car is damaged in Limerick

The incident happened at William Street at around 3.30pm last Friday

A WOMAN has been arrested and charged after a garda patrol car was damaged during an incident in Limerick city centre which occurred in broad daylight

Footage of the incident, which happened on William Street last Friday afternoon, shows a woman approaching the marked patrol car and striking it a number of times before she calmly walks away.

While a cracking sound can be heard on the footage, it is not known how much damage was caused to the vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied at the time.

Several members of the public were in the area and appear to have witnessed what happened.

A garda spokesperson confirmed a woman was subsequently arrested and charged and is due in court in the coming weeks.

“Gardaí are investigating a criminal damage incident in which a patrol car was damaged. It occurred on William Street on February 8 at approximately 15:30. A woman in her 40s was arrested and has since been charged to appear before the courts at a later date,” he said.
