A MOTORIST who was killed in County Limerick has been named locally.
Nancy McCarthy from Bawnmore, Ardpatrick, was killed in a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision on Friday.
Gardai in Kilmallock are investigating the incident, which occurred at 3.30pm on Friday afternoon at Upper Sunville, Ardpatrick.
Gardai said that Mrs McCarthy, who was in her late 60s, was fatally injured when the car she was driving veered off the road and mounted a ditch.
Two female passengers, aged 16 years and 7 years, received minor injuries and were taken to University Hospital Limerick for examination.
Local councillor Michael Donegan described Mrs McCarthy as a “wonderful person”.
“Nancy was a great spirited woman, and a fantastic family person as well. I offer my sincere sympathies to the McCarthy and O'Keeffe families at this time,” said Cllr Donegan.
Nancy McCarthy (née O'Keeffe) was beloved wife of Eamonn and dear mother of Brian, Lorraine and Karen. She is deeply regretted by her loving husband, son, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren Lauren, Ava, Ella-Faye, Callan, Cara, Anna and Sadie, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sons-in -law, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces relatives and friends.
Reposing at at Hawes funeral home, Charleville on Tuesday evening from 5.30pm to 8pm. Reception in to St Patrick's Church, Ardpatrick, on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 12pm. Funeral afterwards to Ardpatrick Cemetery.
