New garda sergeant appointed to County Limerick village

A permanent garda sergeant has been appointed to a County Limerick village

A NEW permanent garda sergeant has been appointed to a County Limerick village.

Sergeant Mairead Reidy has been appointed to Castleconnell Garda Station, providing cover along with Henry Street Garda Station to Annacotty, Castletroy and Castleconnell.

Castleconnell, and the surrounding areas, have experienced an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour in recent weeks.

One neighbourhood in the area saw 20 break-ins on one road alone in the last month.

Investigations are underway into several incidents of anti-social behaviour that took place in the area recently.

The announcement of Sergeant Reidy has been welcomed by Fine Gael Senators Maria Byrne and Kieran O’Donnell.

“This is a full-time appointment so it  will complement the four gardaí who currently serve Castleconnell,” Senator Byrne said.

“I would urge everybody to immediately report any incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour to either Castleconnell 061-377105 or Henry Street 061-212400 garda stations,” Senator O’Donnell said.
