Emergency services attend serious road collision in County Limerick

The collision occurred at approximately 8pm on Sunday night

EMERGENCY services have responded to a serious road accident in County Limerick this Sunday night.

The incident which occurred at approximately 8pm on the Kilmallock to Bruff road is understood to have involved a car and a cyclist.

The cyclist is understood to have sustained serious injuries in the collision which occurred close to Ballycullane Cross.

Gardai, the fire service and two ambulances attended the scene and the cyclist, a male, has been taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.

The stretch of road has been closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

The road is expected to be open by early on Monday morning.
