CAPPAMORE GAA club has overcome many hurdles to develop their new field.

A fundraiser this Saturday, November 24 will help them get close to the line in the massive project to cater for current and future generations.

Cappamore GAA and Camogie clubs, in association with St. Ailbe's Credit Union, are hosting a race night in the community centre at 9pm. First race is off at 9.30pm  Admission €5 with free entry to a draw where you will be in with a chance to win amazing prizes, weekends away, and many more.  There will even be a prize for the best dressed lady and gent, bar facilities, tote as well as auction races.

All the monies raised will go towards developing their additional GAA pitch for boys, girls and adults in the parish.

Chairman of Cappamore GAA club, Ger Lonergan said they are building a new full size field at the back of the one they have at the moment.

“We have 25 teams in the parish between camogie and the GAA. In the summer time when it is at its peak there is hardly room to train,” explained Mr Lonergan.

The club took the brave move a couple of years to buy additional land and develop it. The project is moving along but fundraisers like the race night are crucial to its continuing success.

“Three quarters of the work is done. The plan is it to seed it next spring and then open it in the spring of 2020,” said Mr Lonergan.

Cappamore is renowned for its community spirit and he is looking forward to seeing as big a crowd as possible in the community centre on Saturday, November 24.

“We’ve a great parish. Anything over the years we have taken on has been well supported by the people of the parish. The more sponsorship we get and the more people who come along the better for the club and the plans,” said Mr Lonergan. Cappamore GAA and Camogie clubs wish to thank all who have sponsored and supported the event.
