INORMATION is being sought by gardai in Limerick after a young man was assaulted and his phone stolen late at night.

According to gardai, the victim was walking alone at Dominick Street between 2am and 3am last Friday when he was set upon by three other men.

“One of the assailants punched this male and then stole his phone. All three men were wearing tracksuits,” said Garda John Finnerty.

While not seriously injured, the youth is said to have been shaken by his ordeal.

Gardai have obtained CCTV from the area, and are appealing to anyone who was in the city centre last Thursday night into Friday and who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward and contact them.

Gardai at Roxboro Road are investigating the incident and can be phoned at (061) 214340.
