“I DON’T wake up looking like this,” joked Limerick style queen Celia Holman Lee after she was named the Most Stylish Ever at the VIP Style Awards.
The most beautiful and glamorous of Ireland’s showbiz scene rose to their feet on Friday night in the Marker Hotel in Dublin to honour the elegant grandmother who has worked in the fashion industry for the past 52 years.
“I don’t wake up looking like this. It takes work,” said Celia who started out as a model at the age of 15 while still at school.
Dressed in a lavender off-the-shoulder dress which she purchased on sale from The Ivory Closet in Limerick, Celia, 67, went to the awards ceremony not knowing anything about the Most Stylish Ever category.
She was “completely taken aback” when her name was called out.
To celebrate 17 years of the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards, the organisers decided to present an award to the most stylish woman who has graced the red carpet and ceremony over those years.
There was a total of eight stylish ladies in the category.
“The award was a complete surprise, I didn’t even know about it - what a wonderful stamp of approval after 52 years in the business,” an emotional Celia told the Leader.
“I work hard but I like to play hard too,” Celia continued. “I enjoy a glass of wine. I love company. Some people like to relax in quiet whereas I love people and crowds and company,” she joked.
Other well-known Limerick people who attended the glitzy showbiz event were fashion, lifestyle and travel blogger Louise Cooney, originally from Dooradoyle, and County Limerick TD Tom Neville who was accompanied by his girlfriend, actress Jenny Dixon who stars in Fair City.
