MUHAMMAD Naeem, 9 Mill Falls, South Quay, Newcastle West, was fined €250 at the local court for failing to produce valid documents at the Express Pizza and Kebab House last January 22.

On that date, Inspector Alan Cullen told the court, Garda O’Shea called to Express Pizza and Kebab House and saw Mr Naeem working behind the counter.

Mr Naeem was asked for his documentation but was unable to do provide it.

Pleading for his client, solicitor Michael O’Donnell said he had produced his passport shortly after.

He had, Mr O’Donnell said, stepped in for his friend who had gone to SuperValu. But he admitted his client did not have a work permit.

“He is in the process of looking for it.”

He would return to the UK where his brother has a business if he doesn’t get the permit, Mr O’Donnell said.
