A MAN with 117 previous convictions stole a roll and eight cans of Budweiser, Kilmallock Court heard.

Stephen McNamara, aged 42, of Glandore Park, Knocknaheaney, Co Cork pleaded guilty to theft at Spar on Hospital’s Main Street.

Sergeant Michelle Leahy said McNamara entered the premises on the afternoon of March 18, 2017.

“He bought a roll from the deli and stole eight cans of Budweiser. He left without paying. The total value was €17.50,” said Sgt Leahy, who added that McNamara has 117 previous convictions.

Kevin Power, solicitor for McNamara, said his client pleaded guilty at the earliest possible opportunity. Judge Keane sentenced him to two months in prison.
