THERE is good news for residents in parts of Castleconnell, Montpelier, Clonlara and Mountshannon Road as ESB say they will reduce the flow at Parteen Weir to 200 cumecs this Friday afternoon.
They increased it from 200 cumecs to 240 cumecs on Tuesday down the old River Shannon. It has remained at that level until Friday. Members of Castleconnell Boat Club have been gravely concerned as the water crept closer and lapped at their flood wall.
An ESB spokesperson said: “There is still quite a bit of excess water in the river system, but things are moving in the right direction.”
Met Eireann is forecasting showers, heavy at times, on Saturday but cold and dry on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
