Gardai are investigating the discovery of a body in a canal in Limerick

EMERGENCY services have recovered a body from the water in Limerick city this Saturday.

Gardai have confirmed that a body was found on the bank of the canal in the Corbally area around lunchtime today.

The body has been removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick and a post-mortem will take place on Sunday.

At 1pm this Saturday, Limerick City Fire Service responded to reports of a body in the canal under Pa Healy Road. The report came from members of Civil Defence and Limerick Land Search team who were were searching for a missing person.

Fire service crews entered the water and recovered the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been formally identified as of this Saturday night.
