Cat stranded due to high waters in Limerick

IF this cat escapes from its precarious situation it will certainly use up all of its nine lives.

The black and white kitty was captured by eagle-eyed photographer Liam Burke, of Press 22, in Castleconnell this Thursday. 

It was on an island that has been flooded by the Shannon and is taking shelter in a tree. Rescue attempts have had to be put on hold due to the fast flowing water.

But it is hoped that the cat can get back on to dry land once the waters recede and land on its feet.
