It's understood bosses at Shannon Airport have put in place a major security operation for the visit of the New York businessman.
His son Eric Trump had visited Trump Doonbeg Golf Resort in Clare in the last few days following the discovery of a suspicious package on site.
The American premier has been in the news this week after he backed down on threats to seize Greenland by force from Denmark, and gave information geared at ensuring the security of the Arctic territory.
He also lifted the threat of sanctions against European nations that spoke out against the threats to Denmark and remarked that the deal gives Washington “everything we wanted”.
Mr Trump also met with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The encounter came hours before US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner were due to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
The Shannon Group, which owns and operates Shannon Airport, declined to comment.
