Limerick projects and volunteers shortlisted for LAMA community awards

A NUMBER of local community-focused projects are among the Limerick City and County Council shortlistings for the LAMA All-Ireland Community and Council Awards 2026.

Limerick Going for Gold is on the shortlist for the Best Green Sustainable Initiative. The Active Travel Interactive Map is on the shortlist for the Best Community Transport Initiative.

The third project up for an award is Co-Plan, Keeping Limerick on Track in the Best Use of Technology & Innovation in Local Government category.

Elsewhere, Helen O’Donnell, nominated by Limerick City and County Council, is shortlisted for Community Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her leadership as chair of Limerick City Tidy Towns and co-founder of Team Limerick Clean-Up.

Dr Pat Daly, director general, Limerick City and County Council, commented: “These nominations highlight Limerick City and County Council’s commitment to excellence, innovation and community engagement. From sustainability initiatives to cutting-edge digital tools, these projects are making a real difference.”

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, said: “The nominations reflect the determination, creativity and pride of our residents, volunteers and council teams who work tirelessly to make Limerick a greener, more connected and sustainable place to live.”

Sponsored by IPB Insurance and delivered in partnership with the Local Authority Members Association, the awards ceremony takes place on February 28 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
