Limerick gardai to host Cops and Donuts charity fundraiser

CHARITY fundraiser Cops and Donuts returns this weekend at the Crescent Shopping Centre.
Roxboro Community Policing Gardaí hold their annual fundraiser, which will see them sell donuts in Dooradoyle shopping centre, on Saturday November 15 from 10am until 5pm, where they hope to sell 2,000 donuts.
“For the past two years, we sell around 2,000 donuts in the shopping centre to raise funds for the Special Olympics,” said Roxboro Road Community Garda Martin Mulcahy, the driving force behind the event.
“I am delighted to be involved in the Cops and Donuts event again this year,” said Garda Mulcahy.
“We had a hugely successful event last year and we would like to thank everyone who came out and supported us. This not only gives us the opportunity to raise money for a good cause, but to also get out there and engage with the people in the community,”

Garda Mulcahy added: “We will also be joined by some of the wonderful athletes and volunteers from Special Olympics Ireland”.
The donuts will be delivered fresh on Saturday morning from Kelly’s Family Bakery in Wexford. They are sold at a cost of €2 for two or €5 for a box of six.
Fundraising manager with Special Olympics Ireland, Ms Karen Treacy, praised the event as a "fun and tasty way to raise much-needed funds for the Special Olympics”.
“We are extremely grateful to An Garda Síochána, whose support for Special Olympics is invaluable,” Ms Treacy said.
