New housing plan approved for Corbally area
PLANNERS have given the green light for a brand new housing estate on the outskirts of the city.
KPH Construction are planning to build a huge new development on a patch of land next to Corbally Road.
Bounded to the south by the existing Carraig Midhe housing estate, and the Westbury Shopping Centre, the project is expected to bring 101 homes to the area - 52 apartments and 49 houses.

All the 49 houses planned are to be three-bedroomed, the plans show.
All but six of the houses in the development will be terraced, the remainder semi-detached.
Meanwhile, there will be 28 one-bed apartments, and 24 two-bedroomed apartments as part of the multi-million euro proposals.
Agents for the developer have stated in documents that: “It is considered that this proposed mix responds appropriately to the current local housing demand.”
They noted a “pent-up demand” and “undersupply of small residential units” in the area.
This claim was backed up with letters from local auctioneers.
Despite the site being located less than three kilometres from Limerick city centre, the developers have secured permission from Clare County Council.
That’s because the land lies just over the border in the Banner county.
Eleven groups and individuals wrote to Clare County Council to have their say on the plans.
In this number were a group of residents from Westbury, Carraig Midhe and Shannon Banks, led by Clare Fianna Fail TD Cathal Crowe.
Separately, the Carrig Midhe Residents Association made their own submission, signed by 80 locals.
Both Carrig Midhe groups said they are not opposed to the housing development, but were contacting planners just to make observations.
They gave the council a series of asks, mainly around traffic, and water infrastructure.
