EMERGENCY services and a Coast Guard helicopter are searching for a person who entered the river in Limerick city.

Reports that an individual entered the river shortly before 4pm this Monday afternoon have been confirmed, with three emergency service units attending the scene.

Gardaí are also in attendance and a Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter is circulating the area in search of the individual. 

Investigations are ongoing at this time.
