New building planned for TUS campus on Limerick's northside

A new five-storey building is being projected for the TUS Moylish campus

THE Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has announced its intention to seek planning permission for a new development at its campus in Moylish.

The college is to seek the green light from Limerick City and County Council to remove eight pre-fabricated classrooms at its northside campus.

In place of this, a new five-storey high applied science and information technology building is planned.

It will comprise science laboratories, computer rooms, general teaching spaces and lecture theatres.

On top of this, staff accommodation and changing rooms for people cycling to the site are also planned.

A total of 148 new bicycle spaces are planned, and another bike shelter with 40 parking spaces is to be relocated.

A college spokesperson said: “This building is a key project in the upgrading of the educational and research facilities of TUS.”

A formal application is expected within a fortnight.
