Autumnal concert series to take place in ‘wonderful’ Limerick venue

A CONCERT series will be taking place in Castleconnell this Autumn.

Presented by RTÉ Lyric FM's Liz Nolan, from All Saint’s Church, the Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series promises to offer a delightful offering.

Limerick City and County Council’s Arts Office have announced the 2024 programme for the series, which will start on August 27, with members of the exquisite Degani Ensemble, Alan Smale, Ruby Ashley and Rachel Quinn, who will play Latin Americana and European Chamber works.

September will welcome Rowel Friers, a young pianist and recent winner of the Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year competition, who wowed audiences as a soloist at an RTÉ Summer Lunchtime Concert with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra last summer.

Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble from Belfast, will bring something new to Castleconnell in October, with their “elemental” programme celebrating contemporary Irish female composers.  The season will close with Banbha Quartet in November as part of their tour with the National String Quartet Foundation.

Liz Nolan, RTÉ Lyric FM, said “Once again, Autumn brings exceptional artistry to Co Limerick, with the latest season of the Castleconnell Concert Series. As ever, the programme offers a richly diverse array of classical performance, which this year, extends to the exploration of new soundworlds.”

Etain McCooey, Arts Officer, Limerick City and County Council added:  “We have a wonderful programme of music for this year’s series in the beautiful All Saints Church in Castleconnell. Our aim in presenting these concerts is to give the people of Limerick the opportunity to enjoy live classical music, performed by highly skilled musicians, at a wonderful venue that is both intimate and local.”
