THE RYDER Cup trophy was in Limerick as the countdown continues to Adare Manor's hosting of the prestigious tournament.

Officials from Ryder Cup Europe were in Limerick for three days holding meetings ahead of the tournament which is expected to draw some of the world's biggest names - from both on and off the golf course to Limerick in three years' time.

On their three day visit, they briefed local hotels ahead of the 2027 staging of the tournament.

They also spoke with golf tour operators, while on their final day, meetings were held with local stakeholders.

The contest between the best golfers from USA and the best of Europe takes place every two years.

This means there is only one staging of the tournament between now and when it hits Limerick, for what will be its centenary.
