Body cameras for Limerick gardaí later this year

They are already being piloted in some Dublin locations

BODY cameras have now been introduced for gardaí in some parts of Dublin and the pilot programme is set to continue in Limerick and Waterford later this year. 

The body cameras will be turned if a garda deems it suitable and necessary. 

Sergeant Ber Leetch of Henry Street garda station told Limerick Live: “International experience has shown that body-worn cameras increase the safety of gardaí and the public.”

She added: “Anything recorded will act as an important evidentiary tool.”
