Over 500 choristers to attend Limerick Sings International Choral Festival

The Limerick Sings International Choral Festival takes place on May 30 and June 7 -9

Over 500 choristers from the UK, France and around Ireland will descend on Limerick for the Limerick Sings International Choral Festival.

The festival opens on Thursday, May 30 and continues from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9 with choristers from around Europe joining local and national choirs for a weekend of song throughout Limerick City and County and the surrounding region.

The 3-day non-competitive choral festival, presented by University Concert Hall, Limerick will feature three principal concerts together with workshops, Choral Trail performances and a special Outdoor Chorus at the Cliffs of Moher.

The Festival opens on Thursday, May 30 with Young Voices which will feature a number of local and regional youth choirs. Each choir will perform a short collection of songs from their own repertoire before joining together to sing as one choir under the baton of acclaimed Musical Director Máire Keary-Scanlon.

The concert will be presented by Liz Nolan, RTÉ Lyric FM.

The Festival is delighted this year to welcome The Swingles as the 2024 guest international choral group. RTÉ Lyric FM’s Liz Nolan will present this concert on Friday, June 7.

On Saturday, June 8, the beautiful Redemptorist Church will host An Evening of Choirs in Concert. Local and international choirs will perform a diverse programme of sacred, traditional and folk songs.

This year’s delightful Afternoon Proms Concert, which will close out the festival, takes place in the beautiful surroundings of St John’s Cathedral and will feature a light choral programme performed by local and visiting choirs.

As well as the three featured concerts, this year’s Festival will also include a number of workshops and across the weekend choirs will lead a free, fun-filled Choral Trail with pop up performances at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and Milford Care Centre.
