Mayor of Limerick Gerald Mitchell with mayoral reception honorees Hayleigh Kiely, Fergus Scanlan and Siobhan Walsh at the special reception
THREE worthy recipients were honoured with a mayoral reception at council headquarters in Limerick city.
Hayleigh Kiely, World Champion Kickboxer in the 61 kg category was honoured for her outstanding achievement in the field of Martial Arts.
Hayleigh is a valued teacher at St. Mary’s National School and a native of Moyross.
Trained by Coach Paul O’Brien this is not the first significant title Hayleigh has won. In November 2023, she was crowned the ISKA European Kickboxing Champion.
The second nominee on the evening was Fergus Scanlan who accepted the award on behalf of fundraisers Friends of St. Ita’s.
Fergus is the chairman of the community group which was founded in 2003 to support management and staff at the hospital.
Siobhan Walsh was also acknowledged at the special reception for her contribution to International humanitarianism for over 30 years raising tens of millions for Concern and Goal.
Siobhan was honoured for her many years of work with Concern in the poorest countries in Africa during famines and civil wars.
