Oola-la! Limerick Lotto player scoops €1m after checking their ticket last minute

A LAST minute check of some forgotten Lotto tickets scored one lucky Limerick person €1m.

The Limerick Lotto player, who purchased their Lotto Plus 1 ticket at the filling station store on the Main Street in Oola, Co Limerick, has collected their life-changing prize of €1,000,000 from Lotto HQ.

The Lotto Plus 1 top prize winner won the money in the Saturday, March 9 draw.

The winner admitted they had no idea that they had a winning ticket for quite a while after the draw.

“I was clearing out the car and found a few tickets all together so started scanning and then when I got to this one, the 'You’ve Won Big' message popped up on screen.

“I can safely say that that’s never happened any time that I have checked a ticket previously. At this point, I didn’t know there had even been a €1 million win in that particular draw so I’m not sure what I was even expecting to be told. It was a huge shock to hear the words 'you’ve won €1 million'!”

They said that they will be checking their tickets more often and will be making a regular habit of it from now on.

“I think I’ve learned my lesson for leaving tickets sitting there for weeks and weeks after a draw. I will definitely be checking them quicker in future.

“I don’t think any of this seems real as of yet, it’s been a real whirlwind of emotions. I’ll have to have a think about what to do but I intend on helping family out.”

Meanwhile, a Lotto player in North Dublin also had a weekend to remember after scooping the €3,796,062 jackpot in the Saturday, May 11 draw.
