OLYMPIAN and newly crowned World Relay bronze medalist Thomas Barr was one of the sporting stars at the second fully inclusive sports day at University of Limerick.
He was joined by Limerick hurler Colin Coughlan, who presented a signed Limerick jersey to Patrickswell NS who won the raffle. Also present were former English rugby great and Munster head coach Graham Rowntree and Munster player John Hodnett.
Their presence added to the fun-filled day in UL. Cllr Gerald Mitchell was there to give his mayor seal of approval.
However, the real stars were the children with varying needs.
This event, organised by athlete and primary school teacher Niall Shanahan of An Brú AC, was a cross-sport collaboration with Athletics Ireland, Munster Rugby, Tennis Ireland and Limerick Sports Partnership all involved.
The special day was also supported by LEDP, JP McManus Benevolent Fund, Castletroy College, Athletics Ireland, local coaches and athletes from UL Athletics Club, Dooneen AC, Emerald AC and BMOH AC.
