ONE OF Limerick’s best-known undertakers has been recognised for the appearance of its exterior.
Limerick City Tidy Towns has given its bi-monthly award for March and April 2024 to Thompson and Sons Undertakers.
Located at 40 Thomas Street in the city centre, Maura O’Neill of the Tidy Towns group said volunteers are constantly impressed by its appearance.
“Thompson’s is one of Limerick’s city’s most established funeral directors, having been trusted by the people of Limerick to care for their funeral requirements for almost a century. In that time, the exterior of the funeral home and premises has been consistently beautifully maintained, with traditional signage and immaculate paintwork which is always pristine,” she explained.
The group thought it appropriate to recognise the funeral home for the years of service it has provided, and added its pristine exterior “gives a great impression of the city’s built environment and heritage.”
Thompson’s opened in 1927 and is a one-stop shop for families when it comes to organising affairs at what can be an incredibly upsetting time. Tidy Towns volunteers meet every Wednesday in the city.
