KENNEDY Park man John McMahon has donated €660 to charity following a challenge event.
John took part in the Quest Challenge in Lough Gur.
As part of this, he cycled 26 kilometres, ran 10 kilometres and kayaked 1.5 kilometres to the finish line.
His efforts were in aid of Down Syndrome Limerick.
Based in Castletroy, the charity exists to provide service to individuals with the genetic condition.
He decided to raise money for the charity in memory of his late aunt Una, who had the condition.
“She would have received a lot from Bawnmore in Crossagalla. So it’s a tribute to say ‘thank you’. She was very intelligent. She loved to walk, she was very funny. She loved her aunt, sisters and brothers. All the family looked after her,” John said.
It’s not the first time John has raised money for Down Syndrome Limerick.
In 2016, he completed the Great Limerick Run to raise much needed funds for the charity.
