Intruder disturbed after breaking into Limerick home
Gardaí have encouraged homeowners to install CCTV
GARDAÍ are encouraging people to install doorbell CCTV systems after an intruder was disturbed in a Limerick house.
At 4am on Monday, February 26, a man in his early 50s was asleep in his home in Mungret.
He was woken by an alert from his doorbell CCTV system and he realised that there was an intruder in the house.
The man went downstairs where he saw a male who ran off when he was spotted. There was a car waiting for him and they drove off.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station said: "This is another example of where good house alarms and doorbell CCTV can assist to keep you and your home more secure."
