THERE were heavy delays on one of the key approaches into Limerick city centre this Thursday.
It came as a truck caught fire, with black smoke billowing high into the air above Ennis Road on the city's northside.
The incident took place at Union Cross, a crossroads where roads towards Ballynanty, the Sarsfield Bridge, Clare and the city centre converge.

Two units of Limerick Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched to the scene of the incident.

Staff left their station in Mulgrave Street at 7.54am, and returned by 8.50am.
Traffic has since cleared, and it's understood there were no hospitalisations as a result of the incident.
