INVESTIGATIONS are under way after reports of a strange smell were detected across Limerick city centre.
Gas Networks Ireland has confirmed it has a team of fitters and investigators looking at what the source of the gas-like smell appears to be.
A spokesperson for the utility firm confirmed it has received several calls about the issue since around 9.20 this Friday morning.
"Gas Networks Ireland can confirm that it has not detected any gas leak in Limerick City today," they said. "A team of fitters and supervisors are carrying out checks, but no trace of gas has been found."
It's understood the smell is not dangerous to human health.
