A render of the proposed new Aldi store proposed for Moyross
PLANS for a new multi-million Aldi store on Limerick's northside have been approved by An Bord Pleanala.
The German discount chain has received the green light to develop a new store on the edge of the Moyross estate, in a move which will create 30 new permanent jobs - and a further 50 in the construction stage.
In a statement, Aldi says it plans to open the store late next year.
There will be 110 car parking spaces available for customers and 10 bike parking spaces.
Six of the car spots will be equipped for electrical vehicles.
And the retailer also confirmed it will be the first supermarket in Ireland to pay the Living Wage Technical Group recommendation of €14.80 per hour for its store and warehouse staff.
Colin Breslin, managing director of buying and services, Aldi Ireland said: “It’s great news to receive planning permission from An Bord Pleanála to open a new store in Moyross. Every new Aldi store brings greater choice, quality and Aldi’s unbeatable value to shoppers.”
“The new store will provide even further opportunities for local food and drink suppliers to work with Aldi.”
