Nearly €4,000 worth of tools stolen from van in Limerick
GARDAÍ have issued advice to motorists after €4,000 worth of tools were stolen from a van in Limerick.
On Thursday, January 25 at 7:30pm a van owner in Adare went into a house for a short time.
He believed that his van was locked as he had a lot of valuable tools in the back.
When he drove off a time later he noticed that the door light remained on which meant a door was open.
He checked the side door, it was slightly open and discovered that almost €4,000 worth of tools were gone.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station offered advice to car owners.
"Check your door handle but also, do not keep your car keys in your pocket.
"Someone pointed out to me recently that he has seen his car lights flash on and off while he is in his house.
"He realised that when sitting or moving about he could unknowingly press the lock or unlock button on his car keys."
