A MONSTER Monkfish has been caught off the West Coast of Ireland and will be available to view this weekend in the Mid-West.

The mega fish will will be displayed in Quinlans Fish, Dunnes Stores, Jetland Shopping Centre, Clonmacken Road after it was caught on on The Porcupine Bank, 100 miles west of Caherciveen, Co Kerry. 

Sharing an image of the catch to their Instagram page, Quinlans Fish said: "This Fella was caught by two brothers, Jamie and Kevin Granville. It’s extremely rare to get one this big, we reckon this lad was about 18 years old!!"

There has been a lot of social media reaction to the 'monster' fish with many social media users commenting under the post.

One user said: "That should keep a few bellies full!"
