A THIEF took advantage of the cold weather to steal a car from outside a Limerick home.
On Monday, January 15 a man who lives in the Clare Street area of Limerick turned on his car at 9:30am to defrost the windows.
He returned indoors and it was then that a thief saw his opportunity and drove off in the car.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer Henry Street garda station said: "If you defrost your car in this manner, you must stay in the car.
"It is better from a security point of view to use a de-icer or warm water but it is vital to clear your windows completely before you attempt to drive."
