Two cars stolen on same night in Limerick in separate incidents

GARDAÍ are investigating after two cars were stolen in Limerick in separate incidents.

On Thursday, January 11 a man parked his car in a shopping centre car park. The vehicle owner left the car unlocked and the car key over the visor of the car. When he returned the following day, the car was gone.

On the same day, a young woman accidentally left her car unlocked overnight in Monaleen.

A criminal discovered this and her laptop, phone and some cash were taken from it.

She was fortunate that her laptop was found near the car and returned to her but there is no sign of her phone or cash.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station said: "Gardaí know criminals try car doors around housing estates and car parks and this criminal was very lucky when he discovered the key in the car too.

"Do I need to say that this is not a safe practice? Never leave your car unlocked, ever".
