Limerick firm engineers support for charities

STAFF at Raheen firm Kirby Group Engineering are to donate more than €130,000 to local charities this Christmas.

Workers for the engineering company - founded in Limerick in 1964, and employing 1,500 people globally - picked a number of charity partners for 2023.

As a result of this, these good causes are in for a Christmas boost.

The Irish Cancer Society is to receive €50,000.

Meanwhile, Unicef, which provides aid to children worldwide, will receive €25,000.

Also getting the same sum is homelessness charity St Vincent de Paul.

The Irish Red Cross and Birdwatch Ireland will benefit to the tune of €15,000 each.

Kirby Group managing director Mark Flanagan says determination to support good causes is at the heart of the firm.

“The Christmas donation programme is an important part of our calendar and we’re happy to support some really incredible organisations tackling important issues at this time of year,” he said.

Staff of Kirby’s ran fundraising activities all-year around, including a cycle, which raised €40,000 for Milford Hospice, and the National Breast Cancer Institute

“I am truly proud to lead a group that’s so dedicated to continually supporting good causes. We look forward to continuing our involvement with worthwhile organisations into 2024,” added Mr Flanagan.

In 2023 Kirby also supported an additional 80 local, national and international charities to the tune of €225,000.

Beneficiaries included Galway Hospice, Cliona’s Foundation, Cope and Lust for Life, as well as a number of charities in Sweden and Italy.

These are countries where the company has a strong presence.
