THE SLOVENIAN ambassador was a busy bee during his visit to Limerick, as he promoted business and educational links.

The ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Ireland, H.E. Stanislav Vidovic visited Limerick on November 24 with the Slovenian honorary consul, Mr Liam Moloney, for a number of engagements.

He paid visits to Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick Chamber, as well as the University of Limerick.

At Sarsfield Barracks, he was welcomed by Lt. Col. Damian Carroll O.C who provided him with an extensive briefing on the work of the Defence Forces in the Limerick region.

Limerick Chamber CEO, Dee Ryan, briefed the Ambassador on the work of the Chamber in Limerick where it now has over 500 members and the recent publication of the Shannon Estuary Task Force Report, which sets out recommendations for the delivery of up to 30GW of Atlantic Offshore Wind through the estuary by 2050.

To conclude his trip, he had a productive meeting with UL President Kerstin Mey and the Director of UL Global, Catriona Conway, where the potential for further co-operation between the University and Slovenian Universities was discussed.

Speaking about his visit, Ambassador Vidovic stressed: "The visit to Limerick City was an exceptionally positive and fruitful experience. The opportunity to meet with Lt. Col. Damian Carroll at Sarsfield Barracks was enlightening, providing valuable insights into military leadership and cooperation."

He added: "Furthermore, the exchange with Ms. Dee Ryan, CEO of the Limerick Chamber, opened up promising avenues for economic collaboration between Slovenian companies and Limerick, highlighting the potential for mutual growth and partnership. Together with the President of the University of Limerick, Professor Kerstin Mey, we agreed to enhance academic exchange, research collaboration, and cultural sharing to further strengthen the ties between Slovenia and Ireland in the educational

sphere. Overall, the visit not only reinforced existing relationships but also paved the way for new, dynamic partnerships across various sectors."
